Kians First Surgery March 16, 2011

When we got Kian we thought he had an infection in his eye.  After being on antibiotics for several weeks we took him to an opthamologist who said he had a blocked tear duct that would need to be surgically fixed.  So, we spoke to our doctor at Primary Childrens and he said we would do that, his lip, palate, tubes in ears and circumcision all at the same time.  But, they could not find an eye doctor available on the day the other surgeries were planned so we decided to do this one alone since it would be the easiest.

Here is Kian after surgery, see his bottle he had to eat right away which was a good sign to me that he was doing okay. Once he woke up the nurses thought he was in pain so they gave him some pain meds.  Then I came back and he started to cry and they said see he is in pain.  I had to explain that it wasn't a pain cry just a different Chinese cry.  So no more pain meds and we were headed home in a few short hours.  Man I wish the next one was going to be this easy.

So far since having Kian here is his history at the doctors/hospital

Day 1 in China went to hospital for feet

Next week in China went to Clinic for feet and eye a total of 4 times

Went to doctor just after arriving home on Jan 24

Feb 9 saw eye doctor

Feb 14 urgent care high fever/ear infection

Feb 15 first appointment for cleft palate

March 10 appointment with Dr Snow for his Circ

March 16 eye surgery

March 19 Urgent Care for high fever/ear infection/Influenza B and Lung Viral Infection

March 21 appt canceled and upcoming surgery due to illness

April 12 starts immunizations

April 26 apt for mold of palate for prosthetic

May 4 Kians big surgery

May 5 still in hospital

May 6 get to leave hospital

May 7 back at hospital er

May 10 post op follow up

**This is all pretty overwhelming when your first kid has only been on antibiotics once while we were in China for an infected tooth.  These appointments don't even include his speech and physical therapy...

BUT HE IS WORTH IT!!!
