January 24, 2011-Kian's 1st Doctor Appointment

When I first got Kian in China I called my sister in law, Char, and asked her to call and get Kian an appointment for the first day possible.  We got home late Saturday night the 22nd and she was able to get us into the doctor on January 24.  I was so worried about Kian when we got him but felt a little silly once we got to the doctors office because he had healed so much by then.  But, we needed to get him right in so it was a nice visit.  Kian was 17.5 months at this appointment and he was 30Inches tall and weighed 19 lbs 12 oz and his head was 19 inches.  So, he was 4% in height and was not on the charts yet for weight even though he had gained 3 pounds since we got him.  His head was 67% and the doctor explained that this showed where his body should be with normal eating habits. The doctor thought Kian looked really good and stated his toes were healing nicely due to all the damage they had received.  He also placed Kian on more antibiotics for his eye since he didn't quite trust anything given to Kian in China.  He let me know that we should get Kian off formula as soon as his Chinese formula was gone and put him on whole milk.  We decided that Kian would need to get his blood tested to make sure nothing was transferred from his mother or picked up in China and also we would need to have his stools tested to make sure he didn't have any parasites.  UMMM FUNNNNN!!!!!  So overall it was a great appointment, he referred us to Primary Children's for his cleft palate and so the doctor appointments begin!!!
